Disney Gift Finder — Designing a guided gifting experience
The problem
Choosing gifts can be stressful — especially when users are unsure
about age, interests, or preferences. Traditional filters and
category-based browsing overwhelm users and increase decision
fatigue, leading to drop-offs.
UX goal
Design a friendly, guided experience that helps users discover the
perfect Disney gift through simple, step-by-step questions instead
of complex filtering systems.
Step 1 — Age-based entry point
The flow begins by asking the most natural question first — the age of
the recipient. Visual character cues help users instantly relate and
reduce hesitation.
Step 2 — Guided discovery
Instead of overwhelming users with options, the experience asks one
focused question at a time, making the journey feel conversational and
easy to follow.

Based on user inputs, the system surfaces curated gift suggestions.
